Most Wanted Cheese is the funkiest little café in the Waikato serving fresh, free-range, organic local produce 5 days a week.

The Matamata Piako District Council Awards were held recently, recognising business excellence in this area. Most Wanted Cheese, situated in the head office of renowned fashion designer Annah Stretton took out honours, winning the Bayley’s Business Excellence Award.
A panel of industry experts commented on the outstanding team, and the effort and passion they put into creating and serving awesome food. Karissa van Essen, one of the two head chefs at Most Wanted Cheese, said it was a privilege to attend the awards, and to win was absolutely fantastic. ‘It is a testament to the hard work every team member has put in, and to win was incredible. We will continue to improve, and provide the best possible food and service to our customers.’
Most Wanted Cheese is fast becoming the preferred café for both locals and visitors, and foodies are delighted to discover the innovative and indigenous menu, designed and made fresh daily, using local organic and free range products where possible. With the current awareness of the obesity epidemic, over 20% of the cakes and sweets menu is refined sugar free, as this offers significant health benefits to customers.
The Café introduced indigenous foods to the menu recently, including wild pork and venison, kawakawa, watercress and puha. The Hanging Beef Sausage is served with a peruperu and watercress salad, and the topping on the Piako Pizza includes piko piko fronds and kawakawa leaf. The taste of New Zealand has been crafted into a delicious menu, and these innovative offerings have proved popular with locals and tourists alike. Where possible, and when they fit into the strict organic criteria, menu items are purchased from local suppliers.
This is the perfect space for brunch, lunch, after work drinks and everything in between. Produce is even grown on our on-site garden! You can't get much fresher than that! And we know life is too short to drink bad coffee which is why we've partnered with specialist roastery, Weka Coffee.
